The Federal Minister of Health Nina Warken visited our company in Isny in the Allgäu region and learned firsthand about modern medical technology, biomechanics and prevention.
She was welcomed by our Managing Directors Wolfgang Brunner and Norbert Dellekönig, who jointly guided her through the company and provided insights into our work. The visit was accompanied, among others, by Member of the State Parliament Raimund Haser and Member of the German Bundestag Axel Müller.
Live gait analysis – rural care in focus
A key focus of the visit, which took place under the overarching theme “care in rural areas,” was our new gait trainer PhysioWalk. The system was specifically developed for use in rehabilitation, everyday clinical practice as well as in nursing and therapy facilities – wherever safe, supported walking plays a central role.
zebris founder Wolfgang Brunner explained to the Minister how PhysioWalk combines therapy, training and objective gait analysis in a single system. Thanks to the integrated capacitive pressure sensor technology, gait parameters, loading patterns and progress can be precisely recorded – directly during training.
The Minister did not only receive an explanation of the system, but also experienced it herself. Especially for patients with limited mobility, PhysioWalk demonstrates how modern medical technology can meaningfully support care and therapy: safely, reproducibly and close to clinical practice.
PhysioWalk is therefore an example of how biomechanics and training can help maintain mobility, relieve the burden on care providers and effectively complement therapeutic measures in rural areas.
“You learn to walk by walking”
During the discussion, Wolfgang Brunner also shared a practical example illustrating the impact of biomechanical diagnostics and targeted gait training: a patient who had not walked for several years was able to take her first steps again on a zebris treadmill – and after one week of training, to walk upright once more. A clear example of what data-based therapy and structured training can achieve.
Prevention, responsibility and medical technology from the Allgäu
In addition to rehabilitation, prevention also played a central role. Modern medical technology can help identify problems at an early stage, guide therapies in a targeted manner and make training measurably effective. This is exactly where zebris sees itself as a partner for medical professionals – providing objective data as the basis for well-founded decisions.
zebris develops and manufactures its systems in Isny and distributes them worldwide. In addition to solutions for stance and gait analysis, the portfolio also includes systems for functional dentistry, veterinary medicine as well as sensorimotor training and prevention.
The visit once again demonstrated that highly specialized medical technology is not only created in major metropolitan areas – but also in the Allgäu.
