CanidGait® – Innovative Gait Analysis for Dogs

The CanidGait® system by zebris allows veterinarians and therapists to precisely analyze canine musculoskeletal function, setting new standards in biomechanical diagnostics. Featuring a specially designed treadmill and high-resolution pressure measurement technology, CanidGait® provides detailed insights into landing forces, rolling characteristics, and gait parameters—information often challenging to capture with the naked eye.

Precise Data for Reliable Diagnosis

The automated evaluation software generates comprehensive reports, presenting key data as numerical values and bar charts. These objective measurements support veterinarians and therapists in assessing functional deficits, facilitating accurate diagnosis and effective therapy planning.

CanidGait® FDM-TLA Treadmill – Technical Highlights

The CanidGait® treadmill features a spacious running area of 180 x 50 cm and operates at speeds from 1 to 14 km/h. The integrated measuring surface of 149 x 47 cm is equipped with 9,856 calibrated, capacitive pressure sensors for precise pressure measurement. This high sensor density ensures detailed capture of movement sequences, enhancing the accuracy of analyses.

Flexible Options for Balance and Stability Analysis

Optionally, adjustable swing beams can be added, offering flexible movement amplitude adjustment. This feature allows targeted balance and stability training through both active and passive perturbation, enabling the CanidGait® system to be tailored to the individual dog’s needs and therapy goals.

The CanidGait® system is designed for user-friendly, intuitive operation via a touchscreen. Large front-facing displays indicate the treadmill’s operating status, while light barriers at the end of the walking surface ensure automatic stopping for maximum animal safety. With a low step-up height of just 7 cm (10 cm with swing beams), the treadmill allows easy access for dogs, minimizing hesitation—perfect for seamless use in daily practice.

Customizable Hardware Configuration

To support flexible use, the system can be operated with a notebook or an optional computer stand with a touch monitor, depending on requirements. The number of synchronized cameras is also adjustable, ensuring optimal visualization of the movement pattern.

With CanidGait®, zebris provides a highly precise solution for comprehensive canine gait analysis, enabling therapists to make well-informed diagnoses and develop optimized therapeutic approaches.

The new system is projected to be available in the second quarter of 2025.
